Trust Your Gut

4/11/23

The blue sky amongst the patchy clouds reflecting off the river made for an especially brilliant photo this evening. No filter on this but it looks like there could be one. I missed what would've been an incredible video of two geese strafing the bridge as I walked over it. I heard the lead goose honking in the distance heading towards me and I crossed under them in stride as they flew maybe 5 or 6 feet above my head. I couldn't believe it; I think I may have startled them because they winced as they flew over over.

That was a prime example of not following my instinct, my gut feeling to pull my phone out.

We've got to be ready to take advantage of a situation when it presents itself and our intuition plays a key part in knowing when the time is right based upon our experience. I heard that Canadian car horn blaring towards me I and I told myself to grab my phone just in case they flew over. I wasn't invested in the moment so I didn't indulge my curiosity to see if the shot would come to fruition.

Lets be honest, not invested in the moment is word salad for for failing to pay attention.

That's my penance, missing what would've been IMO a dope video (yuuuup, I said dope unironically at 45 because I'm a rebel).

Whether it's not taking the shot out fear or lack of preparation, the result is the same, you miss out on a chance. Chances don't come around that often so do what it takes to get ready. Only you know what that is for you. Go back to that self audit we talked about a few months ago and check in with yourself, ask yourself how you're doing. Be honest otherwise you're just cheating the same opponent you face in solitaire.
